The Senior Citizens Consortium and the Mature Communications web site is
structured as a not-for-profit organization dedicated to the promotion mature
interaction with our peers. This facility, including the forum, chat rooms
and the web site pages are assets and are paid for by the SCC organization.
As a participant on this web site, you are both a guest and a member.
We do not allow unfettered access to our facilities for guests, but we do allow
guests and visitors to review our web site and to register as a guest on our
forum facilities. There are other facilities that are restricted to
members of the SCC organization only.
With this in mind, we as the founding members of the Senior Citizens
Consortium have established for following rules of the road and terms of
service.
Our organizational rules are:
Mature Consideration
Consideration of fellow members is paramount in our rules structure.
Our requirement here is quite simple, we are mature individuals or, given our
ages, should be mature. Use that maturity in this senior citizen
environment. Debate, argumentative posting and opinion entries are
acceptable as long as they do not turn vicious or are viewed simply as a
disruptive invasion. In simple terms, treat others as you would have them
treat you, and if you are going to enter into a discussion, contribute to the
discussion content. No drive by attacks or snide assaults will be tolerated. We
will not tolerate children or childish posters.
Forums
Forums on this organizational web site are for use by members. We will
allow some guest privileges, but there will be no ability for guests to post
entries or comments. In order to post and create entries or threads, you must be
a registered member.
Our forum is structured into segments that are either open or restricted.
Restricted forums are accessible only by invitation of the originators and a
special access key is required. Open forums are just that, open to all.
Guest access permissions are restricted to viewing or reading the open forum
posts. Guests may not create threads, enter comments or reply to any
entries. If you want to participate, you must register as a poster.
Following a 30 day period, you may be invited to become a full fledged member of
the Senior Citizens Consortium. You may also request membership following
a two week period of registered access.
Suspension of Privileges
There will come times where the administrators of the forum and other
facilities within the SCC web site will be required to suspend privileges.
This suspension will be taken against only the most egregious of grievances or
behavior. However, even then, the suspended poster or member will have the
option of appealing his or her suspension to the advisory board for formal
adjudication. If the board agrees with the suspended member, his or her
privileges will be restored completely within a specified time frame.
If a suspension violation is severe enough, you may be removed from
membership in the Consortium and all of its other facilities. Our hope is
that the people who come together on this web site will be considerate of their
fellow seniors and be honorable in their interactions.
Reasons for Suspension
The founding members of the Senior Citizens Consortium were adamant that we
would have considerable leeway for our members within this organization.
We believe strongly in freedom of speech. We also believe that since we
pay for the operation and maintenance of this board, we can determine what, if
any, restrictions may be placed on people who use this web site and its forums
or chat rooms.
Among those restrictions are:
- use of vulgar or pornographic language,
- direct vicious insults to another poster,
- threatening language,
- direct threats of physical harm
Election of Board Members
Board members will be elected for a period of from one to three years.
Members of the Board of Directors will initially be composed of the
founding members of SCC. Members of the Board of Directors will be
appointed for three year terms. In the event an Board member cannot serve
or does not wish to continue as a member, a special election will be held to
fill that Board position.
Members of the Advisory Board will be elected through nominations by the
general membership and elections will be conducted with all valid members of the
SCC. Advisory board members will be elected by the general membership and
will serve for two years. Elections will be held online and will be
restricted to valid members only. Naturally guests will not be allowed to
participate in elections.
