 Welcome to the Senior Citizens Consortium Web Site.  The SCC site is operated by senior citizens, for senior citizens.  As seniors, we are and always will be ready to assist our senior members and advocate for senior issues.

The SCC Newsletter has ceased publication. If the membership would like to see this newsletter published again, please get a consensus and we will consider restarting the publication.

The SCC Member forum has been established for the enjoyment of our members and guests.  Click on the menu item to the left and look our member forum over.

 

We all hope you enjoy the forum facility and we look forward to seeing a more of our old friends returning once again to the SCC family.

SCC Advocacy Issues
SCC has established health care as one of our advocacy issues. We also have decided to advocate for a better economic environment which will include the significant increase in jobs for all Americans, especially in the blue collar construction, industrial manufactuing and the new green technology for energy use.

We look forward to hearing from those who visit our site, read our blogs and our member forums. We hope that you all decide to take a hand, join in our efforts or start an effort of your own.

SCC Meet-up This September (20090 the several SCC Members gathered in Williamsburg/Hampton Virginia for several days of sightseeing and enjoying the chance to get to know those whom we have been corresponding with for several years online.
The Gathering started on Thursday Afternoon and ended on Monday evening. All appeared to be having a great time and enjoying the comradeship of their peers. We will consider when and where to have the next Gathering in the coming months.

Update on the Traveling by Train

Harvey has indicated that he will complete the travel diary of the Amtrak journey from Washington, DC to Seattle, WA in the next few days. He has been incapacitated to some extent by a spinal problem and it now seems to be healing up. Look for a notification of the return trip diary entries. The notice will be here on the home page and on the SCC Member Forum entry.


Traveling by Train Coast to Coast, from Washington DC to Seattle Washington, by passenger rail on the Amtrak trains. Our SCC member Harvey and his lovely bride traveled from October 7 through the 12th aboard the Capitol Limited Amtrak train on a journey across the country. They will stop in Chicago, Il to change trains and will then be on the Empire Builder train all the way into Seattle Washington.

SCC Latest News

TThe new SCC Newsletter has been temporarily suspended. IF there is any indication from anyone that interest
in a newsletter would be sparked, we will restart the process.
It is really quite sad, considering that we have some great writers in our midst and within the old newsletters there are some really
great articles by SCC folks.


Membership Support
The SCC Organization recieves support from our members through contributions. Our organization is dependent on contributions for the continued operations and we still need to have folks contribute to the support of the organization itself, the forum and the other facilities.

We appreciate your help in meeting the operational requirements for funding to keep the SCC functioning.

SCC Annual Conference
The Senior Citizens Consortium second conference/meeting is being planned now. The selected conference/meeting city is slated to be Williamsburg, Virginia, a cradle of American history. The thought at this point is to hold the conference as we did in 2007 during the early October time fram.
As the preliminary plans begin to firm up we will post the dates and other information both on the home page of our web site and on the SCC Member Forum.
